road trip

HORSE-DRAWN CANAL BOAT ( not running today, Opens in May)
The Ben Franklin III, launched in 1989, was designed and constructed in Pascagoula, Mississippi.  Designed as a freighter, the vessel is 75 feet long and has a beam (width)of 12 feet.  Constructed of wood and fiberglass, it holds approximately 75 passengers and crew.
WOOD AQUEDUCT - Metamora, Indiana has the only wood aqueduct still in service in this country.  It was built to carry the canal 16 feet above the Duck Creek.  It has a clear span (length) of 70 feet.  The water cross section is 17 feet wide and 3 feet deep. Very cool to see covered bridge for water to pass through.
Little Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Oldest church building, built in 1812 (Baptist).  Holes along top windows are actually holes for rifles. Inside has fire pit for heating.
